MARRIED SONS.
As mentioned in the introduction, I have found quite a few differences between the book about
the Genealogy Zeestraten and primary sources.
Therefore, on this page a diagram of the married sons to compare to the overview in the book.
The diagram starts with Jacob Corneliszn. van Seestraten (generation III in the book) and goes
on until generation IX in the book.
I made the diagram as compact as possible by just mentioning the first name of the man,
sometimes supplemented by a initial of a second name.
The abbreviation 'ho' means 'husband of'.
I have only mentioned the surname of the wives.
Behind each name the year of birth (if known) in brackets.
Sometimes there is a red line
on the right side of a couple.
This means that couple concerned
had no married son(s), so the relevant
branch of the Zeestratens ends here.
It would carry far in this context, to explain all differences with the book about the genealogy
Zeestraten.
I am limiting myself therefore to the two most important ones.
In the first place, it says in the book that Dirk Jacobszn. Zeestraten and Aegje van der Fits (IV-7)
have no married sons, while Dirk, according to the diagram above, is the progenitor of all
Zeestratens, as found so far.
A second important difference with the book is the number of married sons in the youngest
generation in the diagram above.
In the corresponding generation IX in the book there are there are fifteen sons.
In the above diagram twenty.
Added are:
•
Hendrik M. ho. Schoep (USA)
•
Petrus A. ho. Van Maris, ho. Van Meer
•
Cornelis G. ho. Fust
•
Anthonius H. ho. Schuitenmaker
•
Petrus ho. Van de Raadt
In the generation VIII in the book, 11 sons are listed, just as in the diagram above.
The couple Hendrik ho. Zandbergen belongs in generation VII.
In generation VIII, I have added Peter ho. Domburg.
Both couples don’t have married sons, so this change does not affect the youngest generation in
the diagram above.
The youngest two generations in the above diagram include all unmarried sons, as encountered
to date, both in the Netherlands and the US.
They all descend from Dirk ho. van der Fits (IV-7 in the book).
In the fourth generation in the book fourteen sons are mentioned alongside Dirk.
That would mean that the remaining 14 branches are extinct, or perhaps emigrated to places
that have not been known to date.
More research in the older generations must show if this assumption is correct.
